The plotting program plots the co-amplitude and co-phase fields using the public domain software called GMT, which is developed by the University of Hawaii and the University of San Diego, and is distributed by CSEP. Click here to receive a tar file containing GMT. README.PLT explains how the package is used for this exercise.
Sample color plots of the co-amplitudes and co-phases produced by the model for M2, with and without data assimilation are available as data files and can be viewed. README.CPT tells you how to select a color scale for color-fill plots that you will find useful when running and plotting other tidal constituents. Experiment with these to gain expertise in the use of this visualization tool. The resulting PostScript files can be printed on any standard PostScript color printer, or displayed on the screen using ghostview.
