Physics Division Seminars bring us speakers on a variety of physics related subjects. Usually these are held in the Building 6008 large Conference Room, at 3:00 pm on the chosen day, but times and locations may vary. For more information, contact our seminar chairman,

This talk will discuss prospects for measuring neutral-current coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CENNS) using low-threshold detectors. This is a process with relatively high rate
(for a neutrino interaction) yet produces very low energy nuclear recoils. I will explore the potential physics reach of such an measurement and survey possible neutrino sources for future
experiments. A stopped-pion neutrino source offers a number of advantages for CENNS detection, and the Spallation Neutron Source is a near-ideal producer of such neutrinos.
