Prospects for Measuring Coherent Elastic Neutrino Nucleus Scattering

Kate Scholberg, Duke University, Durham, NC
ORNL, Bldg. 6008 LargeConference Room

This talk will discuss prospects for measuring neutral-current coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CENNS) using low-threshold detectors. This is a process with relatively high rate (for a neutrino interaction) yet produces very low energy nuclear recoils. I will explore the potential physics reach of such an measurement and survey possible neutrino sources for future experiments. A stopped-pion neutrino source offers a number of advantages for CENNS detection, and the Spallation Neutron Source is a near-ideal producer of such neutrinos.
