Physics Division Seminars

Physics Division Seminars bring us speakers on a variety of physics related subjects. Usually these are held in the Building 6008 large Conference Room, at 3:00 pm on the chosen day, but times and locations may vary. For more information, contact our seminar chairman,

Electroweak Processes in Light Nuclei

Joseph A. Carlson, Los Alamos National Laboratory, New Mexico
Bldg. 6008 Large Conference Room

I will review recent results on low-energy transitions and quasi-elastic scattering both both electromagnetic and weak interactions. One expects that these processes will be dominated by one- and two-nucleon current operators, the relative importance and strength of these operators will be process dependent with associated energy and momentum dependence. I will discuss EM transitions, nuclear beta decays, and quasi elastic electron and neutrino scattering, and discuss possibilities for future work in neutrino scattering and double-beta decay.
