Physics Division Seminars

Physics Division Seminars bring us speakers on a variety of physics related subjects. Usually these are held in the Building 6008 large Conference Room, at 3:00 pm on the chosen day, but times and locations may vary. For more information, contact our seminar chairman,

Nuclear Physics at the Large Hadron Collider

Thomas M. Cormier, Oak Ridge National Laboratory
Bldg. 6008 Large Conference Room

From colliding protons on protons to Pb Nuclei on Pb Nuclei, the Large Hadron Collider provides center-of- mass energies per nucleon up to 13 TeV, the highest ever achieved. A wealth of new physics is revealed at these energies in four separate experiments located at beam crossing points around the ring. This talk will focus on what is learned in these ultra-high energy collisions as seen by the ALICE experiment.
