Water-Based Liquid Scintillator: A New Detector Medium

David Jaffe, Brookhaven National Laboration, Upton, NY
Physics Division, Bldg. 6008 Large Conference Room

Water-based liquid scintillator (WbLS) is a new detection medium that is being developed at Brookhaven National Laboratory. WbLS has potential applications in searches for proton decay and neutrinoless double-beta decay, long-baseline, atmospheric and solar neutrino physics, as well as medical physics. I will present the status and plans of WbLS research and development.
