The Physics of the Global Energy Problem

Wolfgang Bauer, Michigan State University, E. Lansing, MI
ORNL, Bldg. 6008 Large Conference Room

Energy fuels our civilization and all life on the planet. But the age of fossil fuels is coming to an end, and the question is what will replace oil, gas, and coal. What can physicists do to help, and what can physicists at Oak Ridge National Laboratory do in particular? This presentation will focus on the potential of renewable power sources, and in particular on bio-fuels.
