SensL Silicon Photomultipliers Ė Technology, Products & Scintillator Readout Applications

John G. Murphy, SensL Technologies, Cork, Ireland
ORNL, Bldg. 6008 Large Conference Room

Silicon photomultipliers (SiPM) from SensL are replacing traditional photomultiplier tubes for a variety of reasons, including low operating voltages, their high inherent gain and excellent low light detection capabilities. Silicon photomultipliers are an exciting detector technology designed for high performance, uniformity and low cost. SensLís detectors are manufactured in a high-volume CMOS foundry and use custom packaging developed for the creation of larger detection areas while maintaining performance. This talk will provide a brief overview of the silicon photomultiplier and will focus on the performance and application areas of SensLís devices and will also provide a view to on-going forthcoming detector developments.
