The growing energy demand, the concerns over a climate change, and the dependence on oil supplies are triggering a world-wide nuclear renaissance. New reactor concepts, new fuel cycles, and waste management strategies are being proposed and debated in inter-disciplinary forums. Accurate nuclear data, like reaction cross sections and fundamental decay properties of nuclear species, play an essential role in the planning of a sustainable nuclear energy production. In particular, new and more accurate data on transuranic isotopes are highly demanded for defining safe and efficient waste management strategies.
