Physics Division Seminars

Physics Division Seminars bring us speakers on a variety of physics related subjects. Usually these are held in the Building 6008 large Conference Room, at 3:00 pm on the chosen day, but times and locations may vary. For more information, contact our seminar chairman,

Deep inelastic HI reactions and nuclear structure

Rafal Broda, Niewodniczanski Institute of Nuclear Physics PAN, Krakow, Poland
Building 6008, Conference Room

Hard-to-reach nuclei were studied for nearly two decades exploiting deep-inelastic heavy ion reactions. The highlights of obtained results in thick target experiments will be reviewed across the nuclides chart. Recent results from the 48Ca region obtained in thin target experiments with the PRISMA-CLARA spectrometer will be outlined. New ways to get spin-assignments and lifetime measurements in the picosecond region will be presented as opening new perspectives for spectroscopy of neutron-rich nuclei.
