First Results from LENA

Building 6008 Conference Room

While it is perhaps impolitic to highlight things that do not require RIB, there are many issues in nuclear astrophysics that can only be addressed by dedicated, stable-beam facilities such as the Laboratory for Experimental Nuclear Astrophysics (LENA), located at the Triangle Universities Nuclear Laboratory (TUNL). LENA has just completed its first 5 years of operation and I'll review some of the highlights as well as the challenges that we face. It turns out that many of the questions that we are addressing overlap with work going on at HRIBF and at other RIB facilities.
