Physics Division Seminars

Physics Division Seminars bring us speakers on a variety of physics related subjects. Usually these are held in the Building 6008 large Conference Room, at 3:00 pm on the chosen day, but times and locations may vary. For more information, contact our seminar chairman,

Elliptic flow and nuclear modification of identified mesons and baryons at sqrt(s)=200 GeV

Paul Sorensen, UCLA, Los Angeles, CA
Building 6008, Conference Room

The measurement of large event-wise azimuthal anisotropies in charged hadron momentum distributions (v2) and the suppression of charged hadron production with respect to binary collision scaling (RAA) in central Au+Au collisions has generated experimental and theoretical interest recently. We present measurements from the STAR collaboration of v2 and RAA for Ks and Lambda+Anti-lambda in Au+Au collisions for pt up to ~6.0 GeV/c. The dependence of these measurements on particle type will be discussed.

Refreshments will be served at 2:40 p.m.
