Nuclear Structure '06
THIRD ANNOUNCEMENT - JUNE 18, 2006
This is the third circular of the Nuclear Structure '06 Conference, to be held from July 24-28, 2006 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. In this circular we would like to remind you of several IMPORTANT IMPENDING DEADLINES, and to provide updates regarding abstracts, poster presentations, and a preliminary list of speakers. Abbreviated general information about the conference is provided below. More specific information may be found through the appropriate links on our website.

IMPORTANT DATES AND DEADLINES
The conference will begin on Monday morning (July 24) and end around 6 pm on Friday, July 28. There will be a welcoming reception and registration in the evening of Sunday (July 23), a poster session on Wednesday (July 26), and a banquet on Thursday (July 27).
ABSTRACTS & POSTER PRESENTATIONS
The deadline for submission of new abstracts or revision of the existing ones has been extended to COB Monday June 19, 2008. All submitted abstracts may be viewed or downloaded at: http://meetingsandconferences.com/ns06/downloads.html.
Nearly 45 of these contributions have been selected for oral presentation. All other abstracts are eligible for poster presentation. Please notify us by June 30 if you or one of your colleagues plan to present your abstract as a poster. We plan to select about a dozen of the posters for short oral presentations. (For information regarding preparation of posters please see the side bar on the abstracts page of our website.)
PRELIMINARY LIST OF SPEAKERS
A preliminary list of speakers is now posted, see the program page. The conference program will become available online in late June, 2006.
FEES AND REGISTRATION
Registration fees cover a welcome reception on Sunday, July 23, the conference banquet on Thursday, July 27, lunches from Monday through Friday, coffee breaks, bus rides to ORNL Tours, and conference handouts, including a book or CD of the contributed abstracts and a CD containing the Conference Proceedings.

Please note that the DEADLINES for reservations at the reduced conference rate are July 2 for Doubletree, July 6 for Comfort Inn, and July 8 for Jameson Inn. Please contact the hotels directly for room reservations and mention "Nuclear Structure Conference" to get the reduced rate.
Double occupancy is offered at no additional charge at Comfort Inn and Jameson Inn.
For those arriving early (July 22) or departing late (July 30), a block of 30 rooms is reserved at the Oak Ridge Comfort Inn.
Since the month of July is a high season for air travel, we recommend that you make your airline reservations as soon as possible. It is worth noting that airfares can vary considerably from carrier to carrier, or for small changes in the travel dates. TOURS & SPECIAL EVENTS
We may also organize an excursion to the Great Smoky Mountains and/or whitewater rafting on Ocoee on Saturday July 29 if we receive sufficient indications of interest. Please make sure to mark your preference on the registration form if you are interested in these events.
