McGhee Tyson Regional Airport (TYS)

The McGhee Tyson Regional Airport (TYS) in Knoxville is moderately sized and handles a fair amount of airline traffic. It is currently serviced by American, Continental, Delta, Northwest, United, and U.S. Air or their affiliates. Although there are some direct flights from major cities, most are directed from the regional hubs in Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas, Detroit, Pittsburgh, or Washington, D.C.

McGhee Tyson Regional Airport is located within 30 minutes of driving from Oak Ridge. A one way taxi ride from airport to Oak Ridge costs about $40.

Directions from the Knoxville Airport to Oak Ridge

Leave airport and head for Knoxville. After approximately 3 miles take the I-140 West exit, following the signs to Oak Ridge. You are now on Pellissippi Parkway, state road 162 and/or I-140. After crossing the Clinch River/Melton Lake bridge, stay in the left lanes; do not exit to Bethel Valley Road, which leads to ORNL. Upon entering Oak Ridge, continue on the main road, which becomes Illinois Avenue. Most hotels are on this road, including the Doubletree Hotel.
