Tutorial/Introductory Session

Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2PM to 5PM Topics are:

Geoff Greene

Fred Wietfeldt

  1. Comparison of steady-state (reactor) and pulsed (spallation) neutron sources from the point of view of fundamental neutron experiments.
  2. Nucleon-nucleon weak interaction, parity violating observables, f_pi, h_rho/omega; including recent results from nuclear, atomic, and neutron physics experiments.
  3. The proposed n+p -> d + gamma parity-violation experiment.
  4. Neutron spin rotation in He-4, H2.
  5. Testing the Standard Model with neutron beta decay.
  6. Weak coupling constants, unitarity of the CKM matrix, right-handed currents, scalar and tensor weak forces.
  7. The Harvard/NIST UCN lifetime experiment.
  8. Prospects for new precision measurements of neutron beta decay correlation coefficients.
  9. The proposed LANL neutron EDM experiment.
