18th International Workshop on Inelastic Ion-Surface Collisions (IISC-18)September 26 – October 1, 2010, Gatlinburg, Tennessee, USAProceedings |
||||
The conference proceedings will be published by ELSEVIER Publ. in a special (but consecutively numbered) issue of Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research, Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms (NIMB). Regular participants who pay the full registration fee will receive a hard copy of this special issue. Students can order a hard copy of the proceedings for $61 during registration. Only manuscripts of contributions presented at the conference will be considered for publication and we will accept one paper per registered participant. Those who have sent multiple abstracts are encouraged to concentrate their efforts on one quality paper only. Submission of a manuscript implies that it has not been published or is not being considered for publication elsewhere and that the authors have obtained the necessary authorization for publication. The length of papers should be around four to five journal pages for contributed papers (both oral and poster communications). Invited progress reports and review lectures should be up to six and eight pages, respectively. Manuscripts that are deemed to be too long or too short will be returned to the authors. In order to avoid publication of extended abstracts, NIMB will not accept papers that are three journal pages or shorter. Papers will be reviewed by referees who will not necessarily be selected among conference participants. When submitting papers, authors are invited to provide the names of potential referees. Due to close scheduling in the editing and publishing processes, manuscripts requiring extensive modifications (regarding length, contents or language) and a second round of refereeing may have to be rejected. The proceedings of this conference are sponsored by the Office of Fusion Energy Sciences, U.S. Department of energy. Submission of articlesAuthors must submit papers using the Elsevier Editorial System (EES). The submission site will close on December 31, 2010 (deadline for final submission of revised papers). After accessing EES follow the link "submit paper" near the top. If you are a registered user enter your username and password, otherwise follow the link 'Register Now' and fill in the registration form. After logging in, follow the proper link (e.g. "submit new paper"). When you reach the "Choose Article Type" you should select Proceedings: IISC-18. All submissions must be accompanied by a cover letter where you describe the estimated length of your paper using the following formula Number of characters
------------------------- A The number of characters includes all the text and spaces (it includes the title, abstract, captions and references). It can be obtained in MS word using "character count". Manuscript preparationManuscripts
should be written in good English. They should be submitted in
double-spaced typing, 12 points Times font, on consecutively numbered
pages and wide margins on numbered, single column pages. You can find
below general instructions about the expected structure of the
manuscripts. More detailed instructions can be found in the Guide
to Authors of NIMB and the Elsevier's
Guide to Publication. NIMB can accept most word processing
formats (but prefers Microsoft Word or WordPerfect). You
are encouraged to use our MS Word template
(let us know if you encounter a problem). If
you wish to
use LATEX
please read the instructions in the Elsevier's
instructions for articles in LATEX.
