Synopsis

Nuclei far from stability, either neutron deficient or neutron rich,
are being probed at experimental facilities across the world.
Such nuclei offer a unique opportunity to study strongly interacting
quantum systems under extreme conditions. Many of these
systems are also important in astrophysical processes.

Interpretation of the experimental data requires an
adequate theoretical framework to analyse these exotic systems.
Indeed, the interplay between theory and experiment will
be a crucial aspect of this meeting.  Generally, we will cover
the following topics:

This workshop is being held in conjunction with the ECT* workshop:
The physics of halo nuclei (I. Thompson, A. Richter, and B. Jonson, Organizers)
which will be held from 3 October - 12 October 2001.

This workshop is organized by
     David J. Dean (deandj@ornl.gov)
     Morten Hjorth-Jensen (morten.hjorth-jensen@fys.uio.no)
     Maria J. Borge (imtmj07@pinar2.csic.es)
