Hi All -

A quick reminder that the next installment in the brown bag seminar series will take place TOMORROW at noon in the 6025 large conference room. Krys Rykaczewski will speak - title and abstract are below.

Title: Decay heat and anti-neutrino spectra in fission fragments from total absorption spectroscopy.

Abstract: Decay studies of over forty nuclei abundantly produced in nuclear reactors were performed
at ORNL using Tandem, on-line mass separator and Modular Total Absorption Spectrometer MTAS.
The results are showing increased decay heat values, by about 10% to 40%. Respectively, the energy spectra of emitted beta particles and anti-neutrinos got shifted towards lower energies. The latter results in a reduced number of anti-neutrinos interacting with matter, often by tens of percent per studied fission product. The results for several nuclei will be presented and their impact on decay heat pattern in power reactors and on reactor anti-neutrino properties will be discussed.

Hope to see you there!

Cheers,

Vince
