ISOL'01 Abstracts

In order to more widely disseminate information gathered at this conference, we will only accept abstracts and proceedings which are submitted electronically. We prefer to receive files in portable document format (pdf) because they have proven to be reliably handled by most computer platforms and use compression so that files are typically much smaller than postscript versions of the same material. However, we are willing to accept postscript formatted documents provided that we are able to successfully convert them to pdf files. We assume that all users are able to generate a ps version of their document either with LaTeX, Microsoft Word, or some other word processor. Hint: If the "save as" option in your word processor does not have postscript, try the print window and use the "print to file" option.

Programs or scripts which convert ps to pdf

Specific Instructions
  1. Generate your one-page abstract. The entire abstract must fit within a box 16 cm by 22 cm and be in at least a 10 point font. For your convenience, we have developed various templates:
LaTeX template with the necessary encapsulated postscript file (142 kB)
    Word 2000 (PC) template
    Word 97 (PC) template
    Word 98 (MAC) template
    STAROffice 5.0 (Linux)
The pdf (73 kB) and ps (266 kB) versions are available for viewing.
  2. After creating a pdf file, check legibility and any data conversion by inspecting it with Adobe Reader 4.0. If you are on a DEC UNIX machine, we have had some difficulty with Reader. We recommend using ghostview or gv in these cases. If you are submitting a ps file, use ghostview or gv which uses ghostscript to check legibility and postscript standards compatibility. We recommend the Aladdin version of ghostscript 6.0.
  3. Send your file as an email attachment to isol01@mail.phy.ornl.gov.
