11.5 Programming Examples

The Technical Publications Department of Intel's Supercomputing Systems Division has provided on-line versions of all the C examples in the iPSC/860 Programmer's Reference Manual. These examples are complete running programs and are available by anonymous ftp from export.ssd.intel.com. They are short and simple programs, seldom more than a page in length. FORTRAN examples will be available shortly. Beware that there are numerous examples and they might occupy a lot of space.

To obtain the examples, you must have Internet access. First, make an ftp connection, login as anonymous (please use your e-mail address as your password), go into binary mode, enter the directory pub/R3.3-examples, and transfer the file Cexamples.tar.Z. Here is a sample session:

> ftp export.ssd.intel.com

When the file is transferred, move it to the directory in which you want your examples to reside, uncompress the file, and then tar it as follows:

uncompress Cexamples.tar.Z
tar -xvf Cexamples.tar

A number of individual C programs will appear. Instructions are in the README files.
