7 Interprocessor Communication

In order for multiple processors to cooperate on a single problem, it is necessary for them to communicate with each other. On the iPSC/860, the nodes do not share physical memory. Communication among processors is accomplished by passing messages. System calls are available both in C and in FORTRAN for a node to send messages to or receive messages from other nodes in the hypercube. Node processes send and receive messages through local buffers.
